Middle School Students Earn Awards for Playwriting
Congratulations to Corinne Brintnall, an 8th grader at Tohickon Middle School, Josilyn Hill, a 9th grader at Unami Middle School, and Charley Mahar, a 9th grader at Tamanend Middle School, for being named winners in the Phillips' Mill Community Association's third annual "Play with Words" Student Playwriting Challenge!
One-act scripts were accepted from students in grades seven through 12 attending school within 25 miles of New Hope, PA and were evaluated by judges in a blind submission process. Six winners were selected. Corinne won for her play, "Beyond the Stars;" Josilyn for "Survival of the Fittest;" and Charley for "Aliens and Earthworms."
For their achievements, each winner was treated to a staged reading of their one-act play before a live audience and a $100 cash prize! The students were also recognized by the district and school board at the March 20 business meeting.
